Biography
Alan T. Landers has over 30 years experience in the fields of organizational
development and training. Having started as a trainer for the United States Air Force at the School of
Applied Cryptological Sciences in the early 1970s, Alan continued his professional development acquiring expertise in training
needs analysis, instructional systems design, eLearning, evaluation, and delivery. In time he was promoted
to Vice President, Director of Training and assumed leadership of corporate training for several companies including a Fortune
500 company.
In 1985, Alan was appointed Vice President of Performance Management and responsible for all
aspects of executive development and talent management. His strengths were his ability to evaluate talent,
restructure organizations, and leverage competencies. His role quickly evolved into that of an internal
OD consultant and change agent. He worked with subsidiaries throughout the U.S. and Asia.
In 1990, after working with University Associates as a senior OD consultant, Alan started FirstStep Training &
Consulting and began his career as an independent consultant. He specialized in designing and implementing
strategic teaming solutions as well as conducting organization assessments and customer and employee surveys.

As Vice President
Director of Training, Alan was responsible for cultivating learning organizations capable of leveraging the core competencies
of the company to achieve profitability, growth, and service goals. He:
· Directed corporate training functions formulating policies/procedures, establishing/managing budget,
leading the selection of outside consultants/vendors/materials, and conferring assessing the training and development needs
of the organization.
· Designed
and implemented custom training programs for executives, managers/supervisors, employees, and sales professionals including
the establishment of performance standards, evaluation tools, and feedback procedures for improving performance.

Created a corporate university with interactive web-based courses, instructor-led
courses, and blended courses. Selected and implemented a learning management system and established a corporate
learning resource center.
· Led
and developed teams of instructional designers and training professionals.
As Vice President
of Performance Management, Alan was responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining exceptional talent at all levels
of the organization. This included:
· Developing competency maps used to create career paths, management/employee development curricula,
and succession plans.
· Designing
and implementing corporate-wide performance management programs. Including tying performance appraisals
directly to corporate objectives and building competencies to support strategic initiatives.

Establishing mentoring/coaching programs to assist managers in developing
the full potential of their employees.

Alan holds a Bachelors
Degree in Asian Studies from San Diego State University and a MHRD from University Associates.
